Re: Great season
This has probably been the best season of my lifetime. Not sure if it's because of the whole "farewell Boleyn/Noble testimonial" vibe but there's been a real positive buzz about the club, and a sense of togetherness. We've had some fantastic results too, and had it not been for a string of shit refereeing decisions during a 4 week spell we'd more than likely be going mad about finishing 4th.

Roll on next season. Irons.

It's been the bollocks. Cheers Slaven.

Beating the scousers for the first time in 2 million years was pleasing.

Re: Great season
I've been going nearly 50 years and this season has been up there in the top 3 most enjoyable ones. If that Everton thug hadn't crippled Payet and we hadn't dipped in form the last few weeks we'd be in the CL next year. I've left the ground with a huge grin my face more often this year than for a bloody long time! Enjoy the summer everyone

Re: Great season
Agreed, most enjoyable season for years. need to add consistency next year and a quality striker but not much wrong.
Could argue that we ran out of steam but from start to finish we underperformed against the "smaller" team yet were on the money against the so called bigger ones
still not sure why

Re: GREAT SEASON
Have we had a great season? It depends if performance, attitude and entertainment are more important than results.

Whilst I know I should give it a little while to sink in, for me this has been the most entertaining one to support West Ham (writing as a 35 year old so just too young to have experienced 85-86). Yes I've seen us finish higher and get to cup finals and Wembley, but this for sheer unadultered entertainment this season comes top.

Yes there has been the odd exception, but we have gone out there and out played the best teams in the country time and time again. And we haven't done it by playing boring, negative football, we've done it by playing thrilling, exciting stuff. If not for the success of Leicester this team would be rightly heralded across the way they've played this year.

After years and years of growing more and more disenchantened with football this season has made me love the game again. Not so long ago there was only Parker in the team that I felt any affinity to. Now we have a whole team that look like they absolutely love the club.

Yes, seventh feels a bit disappointing, as does not getting further in the FA Cup when it was there for the taking, but with a little bit of luck - or rather not having bad luck - we could have a few more wins under our belts, and then who knows what we'd be celebrating.

Roll on next season..... please don't be a one season wonder Slav!

Re: GREAT SEASON
This is the best West Ham side for 30 years & playing entertaining (sometimes breathtaking) football
We've had a terrific season, free from any fear of relegation
There is a sound base for Bilic to build on
Carry on at this rate & the sky's the limit
Really looking forward to seeing who we sign in the summer

Re: GREAT SEASON
An enjoyable season but just a pity we couldn't make a 5th or 6th in the table, but looking at it it's the draws and goals against column that separate us and the other top 6 or so. Having said that the balance of attacking football and keeping the back door closed is a difficult one and I would much rather our philosophy being what Slaven has brought to the table than having to watch what Man United fans have had to this season.

As others have said a top class striker is on my wish list and obviously a good right back if Byram isn't what Slaven is looking for. If Song is out of the door and Obiang doesn't stay obviously another good central midfielder is a must and also cover for left back because if Cresswell gets injured we will struggle.

Onwards and upwards though and whilst Slaven has done a great job, as much as I didn't like his football Sam deserves some credit for some of the foundations that Slaven could build on.

Re: GREAT SEASON
Almost a great season but we blew it when it really mattered in the FA Cup and in the league when a Champions League place was there for the taking. It's been enjoyable though but unfortunately as has been the case for about the last 35 years when we get close to really achieving something we fall short.

Re: GREAT SEASON
It has been a great season but I think we deserved a bit better. A mixture of our own failings, the mass of injuries last October/November (or whenever it was), a load of decisions going wrongly against us, and Southampton getting 2 gimmees in the last 2 games has cost us.

It would be just our luck if Palace beat Man Utd next week, after rolling over against Southampton today. I'm in 2 minds if I want to be in the Europa League next season anyway but I think the players deserve it.

Re: GREAT SEASON
Although today and a 7th place finish is a disappointment I think its been a very good season. A record Premier League points total, only 8 defeats and memorable wins against Liverpool (twice), Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Spurs and Everton. But probably more important is that the overall entertainment and style of play have made a high proportion of games being enjoyable. Best season since 1986 for me.

Re: GREAT SEASON
A good and enjoyable season but definitely not a great one.

Some great victories. Really pleased we won the last game at Upton Park.

Need a clinical finisher and also need to develop the ability to shut up shop.

Hopefully we can push on again next season.

Re: GREAT SEASON
Overall the highs have been better than the lows. Considering Payet, Lanzini, Ogbonna and Antonio are all new to the premier league-as of course is Bilic as manager-then its been a very enjoyable season. Hopefully with better to come next season

Great season fair play. Shame about the result today. Put a bit of downer on it

Re: GREAT SEASON
Too many draws and dropped points in March, April and May.

Yeah, there was a period of awful refereeing decisions in a string of games but I'd still blame naïvety and poor finishing and defending more than anything.

We've shipped-in a lot of goals over the past couple of months when we were defending so well earlier in the season.

We also don't have a top quality striker either and we've missed some big chances in games that, again, have cost us points.

Theoretically, we should really push-on next season as we're set to have the most productive transfer-window in the history of our club... But there are no guarantees, of course. Things are never plain sailing with us, as we all know too well.

Good season with many positives, a few more quality players needed, especially Strikers,

Re: GREAT SEASON
Surely a great season would have been seeing the job through and not coming up short? I know it's been a good season though as I can honestly say that I have been jumping around my living room more times this season that probably the last 5 years combined. Nuff said. Yes we fell short, which is disappointing, but we have some great memories to take with us.

Re: GREAT SEASON
A good season, will probably only be fully appreciated when we get nowhere near the 10 ten next season due to obvious reasons.

Eerie Descent 8:32 Sun May 15
Re: GREAT SEASON
I've absolutely loved this season, we've changed our playing style, made progress, give anyone a game on our day and had some unbelievable results and got cheated out of a Cup semi-final. It is a great season considering it's the manager's first season, hopefully the progress continues and we're even better next season.

It's a shame Southampton nicked in there ahead of us at the end, but Koeman has had a couple of seasons there and they've been doing things right for a few years. I reckon we'll finish above them next season.

Onwards and upwards.

, 8:05 Sun May 15
Re: GREAT SEASON
So no credit to Koeman for taking on a team that sold off some really good players and taking them into the EL in his first season and then repeating the performance this season Alex?

Alex V 7:55 Sun May 15
Re: GREAT SEASON
They were 8th the season before Koeman even got there, and double promotions in the three years before that. Credit the club, not the latest coach they hired.
